Since its opening in late June, BABO Detroit has been the talk of the town. Intrigued by the name and the idea behind the brand we decided to check it out for ourselves, afterall we love a good brunch.

Let’s just say, BABO exceeded our standards.

We walked in on a Saturday morning and were greeted with a friendly smile. To our liking, we were one of the first few in the restaurant and took it all in.

The place itself is very minimal and welcoming. Located in the Park Shelton, near the DIA, BABO brings a fresh ambiance to Midtown. It has been called a “high-end diner” by a few of the locals, but in our eyes, it is much more than that.

Something we were very intrigued by was that it carries local products such as MadCap Coffee and fresh bread from Avalon cafe on Woodward. We could tell how big the owner was on hospitality from the amazing customer service. We came to learn that BABO is slang for dad in Albanian, which we’ve heard is a culture very big on hospitality.

So Detroiters, next time you’re in the mood for brunch, burgers and perfectly poured lattes, check out this place. We know we’ll be back soon.
